The Pleasures and Worries of a Romance Series
It’s interesting to listen to fans, either in person or in blogs, on the subject of a series. Some love them. Some hate them. Some want a quick read that they can finish in an afternoon. Some people love the multiple books because they can read on and on and on about the characters they come to love.
But the biggest concern is...
Will the author finish the series??
In fact, the worry has gotten so great, that many readers won’t even start reading a series until the whole thing is available. They’ve been burned too many times and they don’t want to get vested in a story where they won’t find out how it ends.
Which leads me to MY new series, “Seasons of Love.”
When the idea hit me (and it would not let go!) about four books that feature the four seasons, and watching a year go by in the life of single men looking for love, I had some serious concerns. Would people buy the books until they were all out? Would people who prefer books to be over and done with when the close the back cover decide they didn’t want to read something that would keep going on?
So this is what I want to assure you all.
1)  These four books are Stand-Alone Novels! :-)
You do not have to read all the books. Each book totally stands on its own—the story in each book is done at the end of the book.
2)  I will write all four books! Book Two—Summer Lover—is already finished and scheduled for release sometime in July! I am already well into writing Book Three (which is called Autumn Changes)!
3)  If you DO like a series, you’ll be happy as well. Here’s why....
Not only are the stories about the four seasons, they are all so about four best friends. They will appear in each other’s books. You’ll get to see in Book 2 that the lovers in Book 1 are doing well and figuring out how to be a couple. In Book 3, you will see the couples from the previous two books continue to grow and blossom. Get the idea?
All four books stand alone, but come with the benefits that series lovers enjoy so much. You’ve got the best of both worlds here. And I am proud of this series. My editor assures me it is the best thing I’ve ever written.
Here is a little excerpt:
Max had been smiling, thinking about his new neighbor when he’d gotten to the Thriftway to pick up a few items for dinner. That was when he’d realized his wallet was missing. He’d flown back to the gym and hadn’t even stopped at the front desk to see if it had been turned in—had run for his locker in the futile hope it would be there—

(and how could it be? Who would give up the opportunity to take it, even though there were only a couple of twenties in it? But his ID. His cards. Pictures of Logan as a baby!)

—and he’d flung open the metal door—BANG!—and of course the wallet wasn’t there….

But it was.

It was up on its end, looking like a tiny pup tent, and the dark color had prevented him from seeing it right away in the shadows of the locker. Maybe it had prevented someone else from seeing it as well?
Relief washed through him as he took a great inward breath—losing the wallet would have been the capper for the day—closed his eyes, pressed the wallet against his chest, and leaned back against the lockers, feeling a rush of gratitude.
Thank you, God. Thank you.

And when Max opened his eyes, it was to the sight of a man taking a shower.

Through the steam, it was just a glimpse: wide shoulders tapered down to a narrow waist and high buttocks. Max looked away before he was caught, put a foot up on the bench and busied himself with his shoelaces so he could more discreetly look up without appearing to. He’d gotten quite adept at that through the years.

There was a flash of red through the billowing white. The figure was all but disappearing in the steam. As pale as the man was, Max realized it was that bright hair that must have caught his eye.

Like Sloan, he thought.

Then the man turned, arms raised, muscles flexing as he began to scrub at that red hair, and when the fog parted for a moment, Max quite suddenly saw it was Sloan. Max almost gasped at the beauty of his neighbor. That skin. Flawless. The grove down his back, riveting. That butt¸ high and round and deeply dimpled and perfect. Sloan continued to turn, tilting his head back, ready to rinse off the soap that filled his hair.

Max forced himself to look away—as much as he wanted to see all of Sloan—feeling his cock filling as he strode from the locker room. What if Sloan had seen him looking? Looking? Hell. Staring.
God! Am I showing?

Max glanced down, saw he wasn’t noticeable through his soft gray shorts yet (thank God for jockstraps), and dashed from the gym—ignoring the greetings from a couple of his students—and out to his Scion.

Shit, he thought, sitting in his car, hands tight on the wheel. I'm a married man! What am I going to do?

So there you go. I hope if you are a lover of the series you will check it out. I think this book and the ones following will please you
And if you don’t want to commit to a series I think you will find this book stands well all on its own. Let me know if you disagree!
AND! If you comment here, one lucky commenter will receive an ebook of their choosing from my back log. Sorry! Not my new book!
AND! Here is a little contest.
Wyatt, the star of Book 4, loves to tell jokes, especially funny gay jokes (read: not offensive!  LOL!). If you send me a joke to bgthomaswriter@aol.com and I use the joke, you will get a free ebook of the title where the joke appears!
So anyway, until we meet again,
Much Love! And remember! Lead and the net will appear!

B.G. loves romance, comedies, fantasy, science fiction and even horror—as far as he is concerned, as long as the stories are character driven and entertaining, it doesn't matter the genre. He has gone to literature conventions his entire adult life where he's been lucky enough to meet many of his favorite writers. He has made up stories since he was child; it is where he finds his joy.
In the nineties, he wrote for gay magazines but stopped because the editors wanted all sex without plot. "The sex is never as important as the characters," he says. "Who cares what they are doing if we don't care about them?" Excited about the growing male/male romance market, he began writing again. Gay men are what he knows best, after all—since he grew out of being a "practicing" homosexual long ago. He submitted a story and was thrilled when it was accepted in four days.
"Leap, and the net will appear" is his personal philosophy and his message to all. "It is never too late," he states. "Pursue your dreams. They will come true!"

Jaime Reese is here!

http://www.amazon.com/Hunted-Man-Men-Halfway-House/dp/0991457064/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1398749789&sr=1-3&keywords=Jaime+Reese

Hi, everyone!  I want to start by thanking Mary for inviting me to guest post on my release day. THANK YOU!

Today is the official release of A Hunted Man, the second book in The Men of Halfway House series. Book 2 is a romantic suspense/mystery novel and a somewhat different style of read from book 1, A Better Man. Although characters reappear from the prior installment (Matt, Julian and Sam), this story can be read as a stand-alone.

I guess the best place to start would be at the beginning and the reason behind the series.

The Men of Halfway House is a series about men who have been dealt a crappy hand in life for one reason or another, whether by their own doing or as a result of circumstance. Their experience while in the halfway house provides them with a rare second chance to change the direction of their lives. In each story, the characters are partnered with men who offer love strong enough to mend a broken man and help them in their quest for a happily ever after.

A Hunted Man tells the story of Cameron Pierce, the first guest in the halfway house.

Cam's story is about second chances, trust, healing, and never giving up hope. He struggles to adjust to his new life—wanting to enjoy even the smallest of details while trying to guard himself against the danger of hoping for more. He's a complex character. He's vulnerable, yet strong and resilient. Quiet and guarded, yet forward. Cam is gifted with a chance to love and be loved by Hunter who is patient, understanding, and a solid rock of support. Their story isn't an easy one. Cam has a past that haunts him and resurfaces to threaten his new start in life.

I can't say much more without potentially ruining the mystery element of the story, and I would love for readers to be able to experience the story as they turn each page. I hope you'll join these men in their quest for their happily ever after.
